About Brad
Hi!
I'm Brad Wilcox. I grew up in Provo, Utah except for childhood years spent in
Ethiopia, Africa. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints in Chile and I lived with my family in New Zealand where
I directed a Study Abroad Program for Brigham Young University. We lived as a family and presided over the Chile Santiago East Mission. In July 2006, we returned home to Provo. I currently serve as a member of the Sunday School General Board.
I am married
and have four children. My wife, Debi, is a Registered Nurse and also served
a mission in Guatemala. My kids from oldest to youngest are: Wendee, Russell,
Whitney, and David. I taught sixth grade in Provo before joining the faculty
at BYU where I am an associate professor in the Department of Teacher Education.
I teach graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy and children's literature.
Our family
lived in Laramie, Wyoming while I was working on my Ph.D. at the University
of Wyoming. I love working with youth programs held at BYU such as Especially
for Youth and Campus Education Week. I also enjoy visiting schools across the
country and helping to promote literacy. Reading, writing, teaching, and traveling
are some of my favorite things. I also love Peanut M&M's and pepperoni pizza.
I realize that doesn't sound too healthy so I'm really trying hard to learn
to love salads. I love music too. I usually play it in my car with the volume
turned way up.
